RIGHTS OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

New Jersey Protection and Advocacy, Inc., is the designated protection and advocacy program for people with disabilities in New Jersey. The agency provides advocacy and legal representation for persons with disabilities to protect their legal, civil and human rights. The agency’s priorities are established by a consumer-driven Board of Directors following extensive input from persons with disabilities, their families, and other interested individuals and agencies.

The Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security Program (PABSS) provides information, advice and advocacy to beneficiaries with disabilities seeking vocational rehabilitation and employment services in order to secure or regain gainful employment.

Interview, investigate, analyze cases, and provide outreach, education, training and technical assistance. Candidate should possess knowledge of disability service system; specifically vocational rehabilitation and SSA work incentives, as well as demonstrated written and oral communication skills, problem solving skills and team skills. Bachelors or masters degree in rehabilitation counseling, human services or related field and one year of experience, or the equivalent. For senior position, bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience, or master’s degree and 3 years experience.

Minimum starting salary for staff position is $30,000. Minimum starting salary for senior advocate is $40,000.
