Protection and Advocacy for Assistive Technology (PAAT)

The Protection and Advocacy for Assistive Technology Program (PAAT) was created by the Technology Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Act (Tech Act) as amended in 1994 and as replaced by the Assistive Technology Act of 1998. PAAT provides legal and non-legal advocacy services for individuals with disabilities who are denied access to assistive technology devices and/or assistive technology services.

PAAT Services

The PAAT program provides the following services:

  • legal representation and non-legal advocacy;

  • systemic advocacy; and

  • outreach and education.

Who is Eligible for PAAT Services?

Any person of any age with a disability who has been denied assistive technology devices and/or services.
